I'm interested in a vehicle … what's next?
You may select "I'm Interested in This Truck" on the right side of the Detailed Specification Page for that specific unit. A salesperson will respond to your request usually within one business day. Or, you may call Trans Advantage's Sales department at 800-325-3863. Owner-operators may expedite the credit review process by submitting our online credit application. In the application's notes area, please let us know which vehicle interests you.

How often is your online vehicle inventory updated?
Our online vehicle inventory is updated at the end of every business day.

Why are your prices not posted on your website?
We have found that the key to matching a customer with the right type of equipment is to do a credit evaluation first. With our simplified credit application, we can quickly match the desired equipment to what customers are able to afford. Instead of posting prices and encouraging decisions to be made on price only, we work closely with our customers to maximize their purchasing ability.

Can I list my trade on your website?
Our agent customers may list trades. If you are an owner-operator, please contact your agent to submit an ad.

How do I post my equipment for sale on your website? Are there charges? How does the ad work?
Current Trans Advantage agent customers may list their equipment for sale by completing the appropriate form accessed by the link listed on the left side of the Customers' Equipment web page. This service will cost $200, and the charge must be paid through a UniGroup agent's revenue statement or by a validated check. The ad will remain on our website for 60 days or until the customer advises that the vehicle is sold.

What are the benefits of purchasing a vehicle through Trans Advantage?

What brands of tractors do you inventory?
Unlike many dealerships that only carry one brand of truck, we offer trucks from the top five manufacturers: Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, Freightliner and International.

What types of used equipment do you carry, and what are your reconditioning standards?
We carry various lines of used tractors that include Kenworth, Peterbilt, Volvo, International and Freightliner. More than 80 percent of our used equipment comes from within the van line affiliation, making it very attractive to our customers. Unlike many dealers, we set our standards extremely high with regard to reconditioning. Each truck is sent through a 100-point checklist that covers the engine, transmission, rear ends, interior and exterior of the truck. We place a strong emphasis on quality!

Do you inventory custom-built sleeper tractors?
We are one of the leading custom sleeper outlets in the country. We stock 120" and 132" sleepers on various chassis and believe we have something to meet your needs. We also can accommodate your special needs by building the sleeper of your dreams.

Do you take trades? What are your trade terms?
Our company encourages trades like any other dealership. Our trades will be consistent with industry averages and will be dependent on the condition of the equipment.

What must I do to have my equipment evaluated for trade?
From the Financial Services primary navigation bar, select the Forms and Applications tab. Fair Market Value Forms for tractors, trailers and straight trucks are listed on the left side of the Web page. Please complete and submit to us the appropriate online form, and a member of our sales staff will be in touch with you within one business day. Or, you may also call a Trans Advantage sales representative at 800-325-3863.

How do you define wholesale/as-is equipment?
Wholesale equipment includes units that no longer operate in our fleet due to the age of the unit or mileage. Therefore, we offer this equipment to our wholesalers "as is" (without warranty).

Is it necessary to pick up equipment in St. Louis?
Normally, our tractors are located in St. Louis; straight trucks in North Carolina; and the new trailers in Louisville, Ky. Delivery can also be arranged for an additional cost.

What is unique about movers' equipment?
In straight trucks, mover-specific equipment has special low-profile tires to allow a lower floor height for ease of loading. The typical freight truck is dock high, whereas our units are 43" to 44" high from the ground. Our standard air suspension chassis could be lowered an additional 5" to reduce the floor height even more. This promotes ease of loading, lower center of gravity and reduced workmen's compensation exposure. The movers' bodies have additional doors for easier shipment access. Many are built with attics and translucent roofs.

Trailers for movers typically have lower floor heights, storage boxes, multiple door access and horizontal tracking for securing automobiles. Multiple van line colors and decal applications are available, as well.

What types of straight trucks and trailers do you inventory?
Straight trucks include a selection of Freightliner and International chassis with Kentucky Trailer Truck Bodies, available in CDL and non-CDL configurations. We offer extended cabs with additional seating or sleepers, and movers' bodies are built to standard and pallet configurations.

The Kentucky trailers are stocked as 53' with either 22.5" or 19.5" tire configurations. We have standard specifications, staggered door extra box specifications, pallet door configurations, city pallet specifications and special commodity trailers with or without gates.

Can I custom order a straight truck/trailer/tractor to fit my requirements?
Yes. We pride ourselves in being able to match your equipment needs with our manufacturing options. Our diverse inventory allows us to meet many needs with stock items, but we welcome the opportunity to build a unit to meet your specific requirements.

Why do I have to lease a new International straight truck or tractor?
International has designated Trans Advantage as a lease agent of their company. International provides us with dedicated sales, parts and service representatives in Fenton, Mo., to support our customers' needs as part of this designation. Traditionally, Terminal Rental Adjustment Clause (TRAC) leases are used to accomplish this requirement and can be viewed as a form of purchase with stated residuals at the time of purchase.

What are the benefits of purchasing a vehicle through Trans Advantage?
Trans Advantage provides a wide variety of rolling stock equipment. We inventory equipment from the leading manufacturers in the tractor, trailer and straight truck segments of the market. We also provide convenient and competitive financing for all of your equipment purchases. We provide one-stop shopping for van operators and agents, including vehicle identification and qualification for the various van lines.

What are the advantages of leasing or financing through Trans Advantage?
Our financial products and services are competitive, easy and flexible to meet your requirements. For convenience, agent customers are able to remit payments through their revenue statements.

When a lease or finance package is selected through Trans Advantage, our customers benefit in the following ways:

Competitive financing. You'll be pleasantly surprised.
Quick and easy approval process.
Flexible finance options to meet your required monthly payments and objectives.
Avoiding the need to draw on your lines of credit, allowing you to utilize your line to meet other business needs, such as expansion.
Do I have to finance through Trans Advantage?
No, unless you are leasing a new International product.

What are the differences between a TRAC lease and a loan?

TRAC LEASE
Lessee (customer) "rents" the equipment for a predetermined length of time with a stated residual amount at the end of the term. The lessee has the option to purchase and finance the equipment for the stated residual amount or to return the vehicle to Trans Advantage subject to the terms of the agreement. Almost 99 percent of our customers purchase the equipment at the end of the term.
Lease payments are always lower than traditional loan payments because of the end-of-term residual payment and the effects of the tax depreciation.
Leases provide great flexibility and help us structure the transactions to meet your financial requirements. Modified TRACs and skip payments are available.
Lessor (funding source) is listed as the owner on the title until the residual is paid. At that time, the title is transferred to the lessee (customer).
LOAN
Customers usually select loans when they wish to update their equipment within three years on tractors and five years on straight trucks and trailers, thereby matching the depreciable schedule for that equipment.
After the last monthly payment is made, the contract is paid in full.
Customer is listed as owner of the equipment on the title with a lien recorded until the contract is paid in full.
What are the advantages of selecting a lease versus a loan?

Consider Leases if you:

Want to have the lowest monthly payment possible.
Wish to conserve your cash flow.
Plan to keep the equipment for its expected useful life or longer.
Would like to lower your debt-to-equity ratio with off-balance sheet financing.
Consider Loans if you:

Plan to upgrade your equipment in three years on tractors and five years on straight trucks and trailers.
Wish to prepay or accelerate payments ahead of schedule.
Would like to have equipment paid at the end of the last payment.
What is a residual?
A residual is the "stated" payment due at the end of the scheduled monthly lease payments.

Do I have to lease?
No, unless your product is a new International product. We are pleased to offer traditional loans.

How many drivers lease tractors?
Approximately 85 percent of our owner-operator customers lease their tractors through us. Leases are typically chosen because of the lower monthly payments that are provided. Additionally, the monthly payments of TRAC leases are tax deductible for the full term of the lease, as opposed to a three year depreciation write off on a loan.

Will Trans Advantage lease/finance a vehicle that is purchased from another dealership or individual?
Yes.

Will Trans Advantage finance other types of equipment, such as containers, racking systems, computers, etc.?
Yes; however, the credit underwriting on this type of equipment is more stringent. Products we have financed include containers, company automobiles, racking systems, warehouse inventory systems, computers and telephone systems. However, we do not finance real estate. If there is a product you would like for us to consider, please contact us.

What is a seasonal payment contract?
A seasonal payment contract provides the customer with predetermined "stepped down" payments during specified period of the year. This type of contract is frequently used in seasonal industries.

What are your down payment requirements for owner-operators?
We want to build a relationship with each owner-operator. For this process to begin, we need a down payment at the start of the contract. This will allow you to start in a better equity position. Your credit score, employment history and the equipment's value determine the down payment.

What are your credit parameters for owner-operators?
Unlike other financial institutions, Trans Advantage evaluates customers through not only credit scores, but also on driving and industry experience, employment stability and gross income, home ownership and remittance method of the monthly payment.

How are interest rates determined?
Interest rates are based on our credit evaluation of your company, which includes the review of:

Two years of financial statements (balance sheet and income statement)
Three trade references
Remittance method of the monthly payment
For owner-operators, credit evaluation includes review of:

Monthly gross income
Credit history and public records (if any)
Driving experience in the moving and storage industry
Employment stability
Home ownership
Payment method selected
How long is the credit review process?
After all required information is received, a credit decision may be reached within one business day.

Can I refinance my truck to obtain some of its equity?
Generally, we do not allow "equity" refinance packages.

My truck requires major repairs. Can I refinance my unit?
Financing major repairs will be evaluated; however, there are many factors that will affect the decision.

Is it necessary to speak with the Credit department if I decide to change agencies or carriers?
Trans Advantage needs to be fully aware of the operating location of the equipment and ensure that proper insurance coverage is in place. It is also critical to establish an approved payment remittance method prior to leaving the agency or carrier. After this information is confirmed, Trans Advantage will release the documentation necessary to change the vehicle registration.

How do I get a copy of my title or contract?
Contact one of our sales coordinators at 800-325-3863.

How do I get a credit reference on my account?
With your approval, the interested company may fax a request to 636-349-2728, Attn: Credit department.

Is an agent guaranteeing a contract when he/she allows statement deduction?
No. The agent has merely agreed to allow us to deduct the driver's payments through the revenue statement.

Is an agent allowed to stop statement deduction on a driver?
Yes, with written notification. The payments remain the responsibility of the owner-operator.

What is your remittance address?
